Peaceful Living Announcement

Dear Peaceful Living Community
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I’m pleased to introduce Mike Scheuren as Interim Chief Executive Officer. Mike brings to this role a deep skill set and desire to serve. We are confident that during his service as Interim CEO that he will help to preserve and foster the culture of Belonging that makes Peaceful Living a special and important place for the people we serve, our families, our staff, and everyone in the community with whom we have contact. During his time working with us thus far, Mike has begun working through a review of the organization, spending time at each of our homes and program sites and working alongside Mike Czekner to provide leadership to the organization and guidance to staff.

As for our plans moving forward, Mike Scheuren’s role as Interim CEO is temporary. The board, in consultation with our sponsor organization, Mennonite Health Services, has determined that engaging an interim CEO will allow for an intentional period of transition for staff and the people we serve to prepare for new leadership. With this, Mike Scheuren will not be a candidate for a permanent CEO position or other leadership roles at Peaceful Living.

The board is grateful to Mike Czekner for providing continued leadership to Peaceful Living while we completed our search for an interim CEO. Mike Czekner will continue in the role of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. We look forward to years of continued collaboration with Mike Czekner as part of the Peaceful Living leadership team.

This is a busy and exciting time for Peaceful Living. Please keep an eye out for regular updates, and thank you for your support and engagement as Peaceful Living continues to create Belonging in our communities every day.

Steve Schwendy
Peaceful Living Board President

Greetings to all!
My name is Mike Scheuren and I am excited to introduce myself to the Peaceful Living Community. The Peaceful Living Board of Directors has appointed me as Interim CEO until a new and permanent CEO is hired. I am grateful for this opportunity to work with those we support, Peaceful Living employees, and community partners.

Serving others has been a lifelong calling. I have spent my career in the healthcare and human services industry, holding many positions from Nursing Assistant to Vice President. I have worked in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, retirement communities, and residential settings. In addition, I have also sat on a variety of religious and community boards.

My prior experience has prepared me to help Peaceful Living move to the next phase of it’s journey. The board is taking a deliberate look at how the CEO position needs to be filled and what specific skill sets the new CEO needs to have. The right decision is an important and crucial one to ensure that Peaceful Living is best prepared to move into the future.

My priority during my time here is to assist current employees to clarify their roles; help solidify the working structure and support the current programs to be the best they can be. I want to help Peaceful Living live the mission statement of creating a sense of Belonging to the community and the world around us. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible.
