FACILITATING ATTUNED INTERACTIONS

(FAN) ADVANCED TRAINING

LEVEL I TRAINING : JUNE 15 , 17 , 23 , 25 , & 28 10 AM -12:30 PM

LEVEL II REFLECTIVE PRACTICE : 6 MONTH POST – TRAINING

COMMITMENT FOR SUPERVISORS & STAFF

ADVANCED FOLLOW UP TRAINING: TBD

Target Audience: Mental Health Clinicians and Early Intervention Providers (Outpatient and Family Based Therapists, Behavior Consultants, Mobile Therapists, and Early Intervention Special Instructors and their Supervisors who work with families with children aged 0-5) seeking to integrate new skills in their practice to help build better relationships with parents. Please note, Supervisors are required to attend the Level I Training with staff members. Participants are required to attend and participate in all three training components.

Presented by The EriKson Institute, FAN focuses on building better relationships with parents. FAN’s ultimate goal is strengthening the provider-parent relationship, resulting in parents who are attuned to their children and ready to try new ways of relating to them

Level I Core Training: Five segment training for supervisors and practitioners on the FAN theory of change, core processes and ARC, and attunement process with families.

Level II Reflective Practice: Practitioners use the approach in their work with families for six months after training with the support of their supervisor. Supervisors are mentored remotely on a monthly basis by the FAN trainer during these six months. Practitioners complete one FAN reflection tool per month and process these tools with their supervisors during their regularly scheduled supervision sessions. Supervisors maintain a log of all completed FAN review sessions. During monthly mentoring, the supervisor processes her/his work with the staff including reviewing one reflection tool with the trainer. At the end of six months, the supervisor sends the log to the trainer to confirm the practitioner’s completion of Level II.

Advanced Follow-Up Training: The cohort reconvenes after six months of practice to consolidate their FAN learning and to develop strategies to sustain the approach in each program. Each supervisor receives a FAN Yearbook of 12 FAN team activities which can be led by the supervisor or another team member monthly for the first year after FAN training.
