Human Rights and Restrictive Procedures – Making a Determination
ODP is offering members of Human Rights Teams (HRT) and Human Rights Committees (HRC) webinar training to delve into the process of “MAKING A DETERMINATION.”

Each session will explore a unique practice scenario and discuss the use of restrictive procedures and whether the proposed intervention is restrictive. Included in the session will be opportunities for in-depth discussion about the process and offer guidance to teams as they evaluate individuals’ behavior support plans. We will review the relevant factors to be considered when evaluating potential interventions and determining whether they may be restrictive. The factors to be considered will include:

The definition of “restrictive” as limiting rights;

The consideration of a restrictive procedure as necessary due to “imminent risk”

The importance of using “least restrictive” interventions

The concept of “dignity of risk”

The need to ensure individual choice vs. health and safety

Audience: Members of Human Rights Teams (HRTs) and Human Rights Committees (HRC)

Format: Columbus Zoom
